JADE Licensing & Activation
JADE is free for developers. Paid licenses apply only to “Production Machines”, where JADE applications run for their intended purpose. The goal is to make it easy to get started and be productive with JADE, while connecting cost directly to application purpose. Here we will cover the types of JADE licenses and how to generate activation codes for computers where JADE is installed.
JADE License Types
There are 3 types of JADE licenses: Developer, Subscription, and Single Version.
Developer Licenses
Developer licenses are FREE for anyone to use for development purposes.
Activation codes for Developer licenses may be generated anytime under login at sixclear.com and must be done so at least annually. We encourage any / all developers to install and use JADE. Paid licenses (Subscription, Single Version) apply only to Production Machines, where JADE applications run for their intended purpose.
Subscription Licenses
Subscription licenses maintain access to all versions of JADE and all plugins while a subscription is active.
Single Version Licenses
Single Version licenses only allow access to a single version of JADE but do not expire. Single Version license pricing is determined on a case by case basis to support use cases such as fixed-price bids. OEMs use this when embedding JADE in their products.
Generating Activation Codes
Generating activation codes for JADE is quick and easy under login at sixclear.com. We’ll need the computer ID, provided by JADE, to do this but then we simply add our computer with its computer ID and generate an activation code for version of JADE we’re using.
Let’s walk through the process step-by-step. Note that the steps below are similar (if not identical) to the steps in the Getting Started doc.
Launch JADE
As JADE launches and loads you’ll briefly see the JADE splash screen:
Activate JADE
If this is your first time launching this version of JADE -or- you have an expired license, you’ll be prompted for an activation code for that computer right away.
If you already have JADE installed and would like to reactivate JADE, simply open the JADE Activation screen from the Install >> Activate... menu in JADE:
Either way, once you have the JADE Activation screen open, copy the Computer ID and then visit the My JADE. Scroll down to the computers table and add a computer with your desired name and your Computer ID:
Your computer will now be available in the Licesnses section. Choose your computer name from the dropdown, select the (major) version of JADE you just installed, and click the GENERATE button to generate an activation code for your computer:
Click on the acvivation code to copy it, return to the JADE Activation screen to add your activate code:
You may now close the activation window and begin using JADE. The Application Manager window will open accordingly:
Other Licensing Considerations
JADE is used in many applications spanning every major industry around the world. As such, there are some additional considerations to support volume and other uses cases.
Volume Licensing
