Overview
Basler pylon Camera Software Suite
includes drivers for many Basler cameras as well as software utilities for setting up, configuring, and optimizing Basler cameras. And, yes, Basler spells pylon
in all lower case :).
When JADE installs the Basler pylon Camera Software Suite
dependency, all of the components necessary for your plugins to control Basler cameras are installed, along with useful configuration tools. pylon Viewer
is the main utility installed with this dependency, which displays installed cameras and allows connecting to, configuring, and interacting with cameras in order to validate that they are working properly. From pylon Viewer
you can also access additional tools such as for configuring your camera’s network or USB connectivity settings to help tune and optimize performance.
As with most JADE plugin dependencies, this dependency is installed automatically when selected / included in a bundle (*.jadb file), saving you the hassle of having to manually it.
Can I apply camera settings in JADE, too?
Absolutely! The Basler Camera plugin supports configuring essentially any camera parameters, as well as many features such a live viewer and the ability to stream to AVI files. Notably, camera parameters are often configured using pylon Viewer
where you can save configurations directly onto the camera with what’s called a “User Set”. You can even declare one of those “User Sets” to be the “default” so that it automatically loads when the camera is power cycled, ensuring that the camera wakes up in a desired state. However, if you wish, you can also encode any settings directly in your Basler Camera plugin configuration in JADE. This can be useful if you will be swapping out cameras or using the same JADE application with several similar setups and only want to encode the camera parameters in one place - the plugin configuration. Parameters set in the plugin configuration will override any “User Set” settings while the plugin is running and until the camera is either power cycled or the parameters are otherwise manually updated. See the Basler Camera plugin documentation for more details.
